Zarzissine is a cytotoxic guanidine alkaloid that can be isolated from the Mediterranean sponge Anchinoe paupertas. Zarzissine shows antimicrobial and anticancer activities.

Biological Activity
Zarzissine shows a slight antimicrobial activity against the Gram-positive bacterium S. aureus and the two yeasts C. albicans and C. tropicali. The inhibition diameters (100 μg) are 12, 10 and 11 mm, respectively[1].
Zarzissine shows cytotoxic activity with IC50s of 5, 10 and 12 μg/mL for KB, NSCLC-N6 and P-388, respectively[1].
