1-Methylimidazole
Based on 1 Customer Validation
1-Methylimidazole acts as a membrane performance regulator that promotes the formation of reverse osmosis membranes with a dense ultra-thin polyamide layer. Such membranes exhibit higher flux and salt rejection rate, while also conferring excellent pH stability to the membrane. 1-Methylimidazole can serve as a ligand for ruthenium (II) complexes to construct metal-based anticancer agents.

Biological Activity
When 1-methylimidazole (0.3% w/v) is introduced into the aqueous phase during the interfacial polymerization process, a reverse osmosis membrane can be prepared. Compared with the control membrane, this membrane has a thinner and denser polyamide layer, more backside pores, larger pore size, and smaller free volume[1].
Free 1-methylimidazole acts as a metal ligand for the synthesis of ruthenium (II) complexes with anticancer activity[2].
