Austocystins I is a toxin and protein tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor, with an IC50 of 16 μM against MEG2 and an IC50 of 19 μM against CDC25B. Austocystins I exhibits lethal toxicity to brine shrimp. Austocystins I can be used in the research of cancer and type 2 diabetes.

Biological Activity
Austocystins I (0.096-200 μg/mL; 24 h) exhibits lethal toxicity towards brine shrimp nauplii with an LC50 of 2.9 μM[1].
Austocystins I (48 h) does not exhibit significant cytotoxicity towards Vero cells, with a TC50 > 100 μM[1].
