(+)-Bornyl acetate is a volatile organic compound and a characteristic component of coniferous tree essential oils, including pine needle essential oil. (+)-Bornyl acetate exerts a strong inhibitory effect on root growth of Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings. (+)-Bornyl acetate can induce adult male Periplaneta americana to exhibit sexual behavior and possesses sex pheromone-like activity.

Description
In Vitro
(+)-Bornyl acetate (5-30 μmol; 4 days) dose-dependently inhibits root growth and induces wavy root morphology in Arabidopsis thaliana (ecotype Columbia) seedlings[1].
(+)-Bornyl acetate (0.2 g per flask; 7-10 days) undergoes microbiological hydroxylation by Helminthosporium sativum cultures almost exclusively at the C(5) position, producing (+)-5-exo-hydroxyborneol (primary product with yields up to 56%) and (+)-5-endo-hydroxyborneol, with minimal formation of (+)-3-exo-hydroxyborneol[2].
(+)-Bornyl acetate (1.0 g per flask; 18 days) undergoes microbiological hydroxylation by Fusarium culmorum cultures regiospecifically at the C(5) position to form 5-exo-hydroxybornyl acetate (yield ~12%) without hydrolysis of the acetoxy group[2].

Recorded female EAG amplitude of 0.08 mV at 0.01 mg, 0.10 mV at 0.02 mg, 0.18 mV at 0.05 mg, and 0.21 mV at 0.10 mg.
Achieved an M/F ratio of 3.2 at 0.05 mg, and an M/F ratio index (normalized to camphor) of 1.5.

- To ensure reliable experimental results, the clarified stock solution can be appropriately stored based on storage conditions. As for the working solution for In Vivo experiments, it is recommended to prepare freshly and use it on the same day.
- The percentages shown for the solvents indicate their volumetric ratio in the final prepared solution. If precipitation or phase separation occurs during preparation, heat and/or sonication can be used to aid dissolution.
Add each solvent one by one: 10% DMSO 90% (20% SBE-β-CD in Saline)
Solubility: ≥ 2.5 mg/mL (12.74 mM); Clear solution
This protocol yields a clear solution of ≥ 2.5 mg/mL (saturation unknown).
Taking 1 mL working solution as an example, add 100 μL DMSO stock solution (25.0 mg/mL) to 900 μL 20% SBE-β-CD in Saline, and mix evenly.
Preparation of 20% SBE-β-CD in Saline (4°C, storage for one week): 2 g SBE-β-CD powder is dissolved in 10 mL Saline, completely dissolve until clear.
