Deltorphin I TFA (Deltorphin 1 TFA; Deltorphin C TFA; [D-Ala2] Deltorphin I TFA) is a high-affinity, selective δ-opioid receptor agonist that targets the δ1 and δ2 opioid receptor subtypes. Deltorphin I TFA produces analgesic effects in the rat spinal cord. Deltorphin I TFA increases the pain threshold in rats. Deltorphin I TFA can be used in studies related to nociception (acute pain)[1].

In Vivo

Deltorphin I (0.15-15 μg; intrathecal injection; single administration) TFA exerts dose-dependent analgesic effects in acute nociception tests in rats by activating δ1 and δ2 opioid receptors[1].

Animal Model: Wistar rats (male, 260-350 g, intrathecal lumbar enlargement catheter implantation)[1]
Dosage: 0.15 μg; 1.5 μg; 15 μg
Administration: i.th.; single injection
Result: Significantly increased tail-flick latency in a dose-dependent manner, with effects starting at 15 minutes post-injection and lasting for 120 minutes.
Reached maximum effect at 15 minutes for all doses, with duration of effect increasing with higher doses.
Significantly increased paw pressure threshold at 1.5 μg and 15 μg doses starting at 15 minutes post-injection; showed no effect at 0.15 μg dose.
Had its antinociceptive effect significantly antagonized by coadministration of 30 μg NTI, 3 μg NTB, or 1 μg BNTX in both tail-flick and paw pressure tests.
Had its effect completely blocked by NTI in the paw pressure test.
