Dysiherbaine
Dysiherbaine is an excitatory amino acid. Dysiherbaine is isolated from the marine sponge Lendenfeldia chondrodes. Dysiherbaine activates AMPA and kainate receptors. Dysiherbaine has minor NMDA receptor agonist activity, while it has no effect on L-type voltage-dependent calcium channels. Dysiherbaine induces convulsions and epileptogenic activity in mice. Dysiherbaine is used in epilepsy research.

In Vitro
Dysiherbaine binds AMPA receptors with a Ki of 153 nM and kainate receptors with a Ki of 26 nM in rat synaptic membrane preparations[1].
Dysiherbaine activates AMPA and KA receptors in cultured rat hippocampal neurons with EC50 values of 9.7 μM and 210 nM, respectively, and also activates mGlu5[2].
Dysiherbaine binds with high affinity to GluK1 and GluK2, with Ki values of 0.5 nM and 1.3 nM, respectively[6].
