Description

EtS-DMAB (HClO-green) is a fluorescent probe, which can selectively detect hypochlorous acid (HOCl) (λex=440 nm, λem=610 nm). EtS-DMAB is applied to image exogenous and endogenous HOCl in live cells[1].

In Vitro

EtS-DMAB can selectively detect hypochlorous acid (HOCl) over other reactive oxygen species in aqueous solution with a large stokes shift (~170 nm). It turns out that oxidation of the thioether to the corresponding sulfoxide accounts for the turn-on fluorescence[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
