DTME (Dithio-bis-maleimidoethane) is a molecular crosslinker. The molecular structure of DTME contains two maleimide groups connected by an ethane disulfide bond, and this structure enables it to react specifically with molecules containing thiol groups (such as cysteine residues) to form stable covalent bonds. DTME is commonly used to investigate and characterize protein structure (especially oligomerization) or protein interactions.

DTME (100 μM; 5-60 min) supports in vitro selection of DAR and DAB deoxyribozymes, yielding 49% and 33% Diels-Alder activity after 10 rounds and 18% and 13% after shortened 5-min incubation[3].
