DHT/BSA is an antigen-adjuvant conjugate of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) conjugated to bovine serum albumin (BSA) and a cell-impermeable membrane androgen receptor (mAR) agonist. DHT/BSA exacerbates neuronal apoptosis or induces cellular senescence under oxidative stress, and it rapidly inhibits estradiol synthesis and triggers reward and reinforcement behaviors in the central nervous system. DHT/BSA acts by specifically binding to mAR, triggering NOX/ROS generation, activating the NF-κB inflammatory pathway, or inhibiting signaling pathways such as Akt, without involving the classical nuclear translocation pathway. DHT/BSA can be used in research on Parkinson's disease and androgenetic alopecia.

DHT-BSA (10 μM; 8-12 h) inhibits Akt phosphorylation and total expression, activates caspase 3/7, and increases TUNEL-positive apoptotic cells in primary cortical astrocytes^[4].

Cardiovascular Regulation

DHT-BSA (100 nM) induces ANG II (HY-13948) release in a biosensor cell system on rat brain slices (substantia nigra and hippocampal CA1 region), resulting in increased fluorescence intensity^[6].

Oxidative Stress

DHT/BSA (500 nM; 4 h) exacerbates H₂O₂-induced loss of N27 dopaminergic neuronal cells, and this effect is blocked by the NOX inhibitor Apocynin (HY-N0088)^[2].
DHT-BSA (500 nM; 24 h) exacerbates cell death under oxidative stress conditions in N27 and PC12 neuronal cells and C6 glial cells^[8].

Others

DHT/BSA (10 μM; 12 h) sensitizes primary cortical astrocytes to IAA (HY-W661484)-induced LDH release, whereas DHT/BSA alone does not increase LDH release^[4].
DHT-BSA (75 μM; 3 h) significantly inhibits hCG (HY-107953)-stimulated estradiol (E2) production in ovarian tissue fragments of Micropogonias undulatus^[5].
