Cornigerine inhibits tubulin polymerization, blocks colchicine binding to tubulin, and stimulates tubulin-dependent GTP hydrolysis. Cornigerine induces metaphase arrest in leukemia cells and exhibits toxic activity against leukemia cells. Cornigerine can be used in research on mouse leukemia.

Cornigerine (0.01-0.3 μM; 6-24 h) potently inhibits the growth of L1210 mouse leukemia cells with an IC₅₀ of 0.02-0.04 μM and induces mitotic arrest in these cells^[1].

Others

Cornigerine (0.1 mM; 0-60 min; 37°C) inhibits the early phase of tubulin-dependent GTP hydrolysis by purified bovine brain tubulin (assembled with heat-treated microtubule-associated proteins)^[1].
Cornigerine is a microtubule assembly inhibitor that is more potent than colchicine in a reconstituted system containing purified bovine brain tubulin and heat-treated microtubule-associated proteins^[1].
