Dodecylamine (Laurylamine) is a saturated aliphatic amine with cytotoxicity. Dodecylamine can act as a ligand for the extracellular recognition segment CD36149‑168 of the human CD36 receptor, with a human EC50 of 19 μM. After conjugation with BSA, Dodecylamine can increase hydrophobicity/amphiphilicity and promote self-assembly into cationic nanoparticles. Dodecylamine can be used in research related to CD36 receptor ligand recognition and nanoparticle synthesis.

Dodecylamine binds human CD36149-168 saturably with an EC50 of 19 μM, behaving as a class B ligand; it shows extremely weak binding activity toward Scr‑FITC‑hCD36149‑168 (EC50 > 10000 μM), compared with an EC50 of 20 μM for the KK/DE‑FITC‑hCD36149‑168 peptide[2].
Dodecylamine can act as a cationic surfactant, bind to DNA, and slow down electron transfer reactions; it can be used to construct cobalt metal surfactant complexes[3].
