Ferroleuton is a competitive, selective inhibitor for 5-lipoxygenase with an IC₅₀ of 0.21 μM. Ferroleuton exhibits antioxidant activity in DPPH (scavenges 86% DPPH-H at 50 μM), ABTS (EC₅₀=19.42 μM) and FRAP (EC₅₀=3.32 μM) assays.
