Dianellin weakly binds to Plasmodium falciparum plasmepsin II and does not bind to Plasmodium falciparum pfLDH^[1].

In Vivo

Dianellin (25-100 mg/kg; i.g.; daily; 4 days) exhibits dose-dependent in vivo anti-malarial activity against Plasmodium berghei in Swiss albino mice, with an ED₅₀ of 92.31 mg/kg and up to 53.77% parasitaemia suppression at the highest tested dose^[1].

Animal Model:

Swiss albino (5-6 weeks old, 20-25 g, male or female, intraperitoneally inoculated with Plasmodium berghei ANKA strain-infected erythrocytes)^[1]

Achieved 29.83% parasitaemia suppression and a mean survival time of 7.6 days at 25 mg/kg/day.
