ELB041
ELB041 (AFS98) is a rat monoclonal anti-murine c-fms antibody (IgG2a). AFS98 inhibits M-CSF–dependent colony formation and cell growth by blocking the binding of M-CSF to its receptor. AFS98 prevents development of fatty streaks in ApoE-deficient mice. ELB041 can be used for the research of atherosclerosis.

Result:Suppressed macrophage-derived foam cell accumulation in the aortic root by ~70% (total aortic lesion area: 2390 ± 204 μm² vs. PBS control: ~9000 μm²). Had minimal effect on advanced lesion size (AFS98 group: 30728 ± 2248 μm² vs. PBS group: 31753 ± 17483 μm²). Did not reduce macrophage or vascular smooth muscle cell staining in lesions. Did not significantly reduce peripheral blood monocyte count or body weight.
