Protoneodioscin is a furostanol saponin found in the rhizomes of Dioscorea collettii var. hypoglauca. Protoneodioscin (0.01-100 μM; 72 h) is cytotoxic against most of 60 tested human cancer cell lines, with the most sensitive being K-562 leukemia cells (GI₅₀ = 0.49 μM), and leukemia, central nervous system cancer, and prostate cancer subpanels are the most sensitive overall^[1].
