Ledol ((+)-Ledol) is an antifungal agent isolated from the volatile oil components of Rhododendron tomentosum. Ledol also acts as an expectorant and antitussive, while it can cause adverse reactions such as dizziness, nausea and vomiting.

Ledol (1500 ng per band; 2 min at 100°C) is detectable as a dark blue band (Rf = 0.40) via qualitative HPTLC in essential oils from intact R. tomentosum plant material, but is absent in essential oils from R. tomentosum in vitro microshoot cultures[1].
Ledol (1500 ng per band; 30 min dark incubation) does not exhibit DPPH free radical scavenging activity under the tested conditions[1].
Ledol (1500 ng per band; 10 min fluorescent light exposure) does not exhibit superoxide scavenging activity under the tested conditions[1].
Ledol (1500 ng per band; 20 min at 38°C) does not exhibit xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity under the tested conditions[1].
