Description

NS 1231 is a neurotrophic-like compound with neuroprotective effect. NS 1231 can rescue nerve growth factor (NGF)-differentiated PC12 cells from death induced by withdrawal of trophic factors. NS 1231 can stimulate NGF-induced neurite outgrowth of undifferentiated PC12 cells. NS 1231 can be used for the research of neurological disease, such as stroke[1].

In Vitro

NS 1231 (1-10 μM) increases the viability of NGF-differentiated PC12 cells and preserves the neurites of surviving cells when administered for 4 days after trophic factor (serum and NGF) withdrawal[1].
NS 1231 (1-3 μM, 48 h) in combination with NGF significantly stimulates neurite outgrowth in undifferentiated PC12 cells[1].
NS 1231 (1-3 μM, 5 mins) in combination with NGF enhances NGF-induced TrkA phosphorylation at the Shc-binding site (Tyr490) and ERK activation (Thr202/Tyr204) in undifferentiated PC12 cells[1].
