Pantoic acid is an intermediate in the bacterial coenzyme A biosynthetic pathway. Pantoic acid is produced via hydroxymethylation of α-ketoisovaline followed by reduction. Pantoic acid can condense with β-Alanine (HY-N0230) to form vitamin B5.
