Antimicrobial Peptides

Thanatin is an inducible cationic antimicrobial peptide. Thanatin is a pathogen-inducible single-disulfide-bond-containing β-hairpin AMP. Thanatin displays broad-spectrum activity against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria as well as against various species of fungi with MICs of 0.3-40 µM, 0.6-40 µM and 0.6-20 µM, respectively. Thanatin has the property of competitive replacement of divalent cations from bacterial outer membrane (OM), leading to OM disruption.

L18-MDP is a derivative of muramyl dipeptide, an antibacterial agent. L18-MDP has antibacterial activity and has potential applications in bacterial and fungal infections.

SAAP 148 TFA is a synthetic antimicrobial peptide (bacteria) that interacts with and disrupts the lipid bilayer of bacterial cytoplasmic membranes, thereby inducing changes in membrane permeability and bacterial death. SAAP 148 TFA kills drug-resistant, multidrug-resistant and persister bacterial strains, inhibits biofilm formation, eliminates established biofilms, and blocks bacterial colonization on implant surfaces. SAAP 148 TFA retains its activity after modification or immobilization, exhibits variable cytotoxicity in different human cell models, and shows reduced efficacy in protein-rich environments. SAAP 148 TFA can be used in infection-related research.

Defensin HNP-1 human is a type of human neutrophil peptide (HNPs). Defensin HNP-1 human possesses immunomodulatory functions and can delay the apoptosis of neutrophils. Defensin HNP-1 human inhibits DNA/RNA/protein synthesis and interferes with metabolic pathways, thus exhibiting broad antibacterial activity. Defensin HNP-1 human has direct inactivation effects on HIV, HSV-1, HSV-2, CMV, influenza virus, etc. Defensin HNP-1 human has antileishmanial activity. d-KLA Peptide (D-(KLAKLAK)2), KLA peptide (HY-P5345) isomer, is a pro-apoptosis peptide. d-KLA Peptide can specifically target mitochondria and induce apoptosis by destroying the mitochondrial membrane. d-KLA Peptide increases caspase 3/7 activity, exerts proapoptotic activity and enhances antitumor efficacy in mouse melanoma models.

Tachyplesin I is a β-hairpin antimicrobial peptide that contains 17 amino acid residues. Tachyplesin I exhibits cytotoxic properties against various human tumor cell lines acting primarily by impairing the integrity of the outer cell membrane.

Reltecimod (AB-103) is a T-cell-specific surface glycoprotein CD28 (TP44) antagonist. Reltecimod has beneficial effects against different bacterial infections, their exotoxins and endotoxins, and ionizing radiation. Reltecimod modulates the inflammatory response by targeting and attenuating the critical CD28/B7-2 co-stimulatory pathway, without inhibiting it. Reltecimod can be used to research necrotizing soft-tissue infections (NSTIs).

HEP-1 (Human ezrin peptide (324 - 337)) is an orally active peptide with antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory activities. HEP-1 is effective against infections by various viruses such as HIV, HCV, herpes viruses, HPV, and influenza viruses. As an immunomodulator, HEP-1 can enhance the adaptive immunity mediated by B cells and T cells. HEP-1 can also increase the antibody titers after hepatitis B vaccination. HEP-1 can be used in the research of viral infections and inflammation-related diseases.

Temporin A is a short alpha-helical antimicrobial peptide isolated from the skin of the frog Rana temporaria. Temporin A is effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive bacteria. Temporin A interacts directly with the cell membrane of the microorganism and it is non-toxic to erythrocytes at concentrations that are antimicrobial. Temporin A also has antifungal activities (against yeast-like Candida albicans).

PBP10 is a decapeptide. PBP10 selectively binds to lipoteichoic acid (LTA), lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate (PIP₂). PBP10 penetrates cell membranes and possesses bactericidal, anti-inflammatory, cell motility-inhibiting and actin assembly-regulating activities. PBP10 is applicable to relevant research on bacterial infections, microbe-induced inflammation, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as sepsis.

Cyclo(Arg-Pro) (Cyclo(Pro-Arg)) is an inhibitor for chitinase. Cyclo(Arg-Pro) inhibits cell separation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, without affecting its growth. Cyclo(Arg-Pro) inhibits the morphological change of Candida albicans from yeast form to filamentous form.

Api137 TFA is an antimicrobial peptide that interferes with bacterial growth by inhibiting translation. Api137 TFA inhibits protein synthesis by trapping of release factors on the 70S ribosome following hydrolysis of the nascent polypeptide chain.

Cecropin A (1-7)-Melittin A (2-9) is an antimicrobial peptide with antimicrobial activity against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic bacteria, as well as antimalarial activity, without the adverse hemolytic properties of bee venom peptides.

Melittin TFA is a PLA₂ activator, stimulates the activity of the low molecular weight PLA₂, while it does not the increase activity of the high molecular weight PLA₂.

Actinomycin X2 (Actinomycin V), produced by many Streptomyces sp., shows strong inhibition of MRSA with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of 0.25 μg/mL. Actinomycin X2 can be used for cancer and bacterial infection.

H-Lys-Trp-Lys-OH is a small molecule peptide which displays antibacterial and antiviral activities extracted from patent CN 104072579 A, Compound AMP12.

Polymyxin B2 is a polypeptide antibiotic with particularly potent antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria. Polymyxin B2 kills bacteria by binding to lipopolysaccharide molecules on the bacterial cell membrane, disrupting membrane integrity and causing leakage of intracellular contents. Polymyxin B2 is used in studies related to Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection and acute enteritis.

KR-12 (human) is an active segment of LL-37 (HY-P4744). KR-12 (human) exhibits antimicrobial activity against gram-negative bacteria. KR-12 (human) inhibits E. coli K-12 with a MIC of 66 μM. KR-12 human can be used for the research of infection, such as E. coli infection.
