Neurological Disease Cancer

N-Ethyl-N-nitrosourea (ENU) is a DNA alkylating agent. N-Ethyl-N-nitrosourea induces leukemia by alkylating nucleobases, disrupting DNA, and resulting in bone marrow suppression and the formation of leukemic cells. N-Ethyl-N-nitrosourea is teratogenic in vivo, inducing tumor formation and paw malformations in pregnant rats. N-Ethyl-N-nitrosourea cause central nervous system (CNS) tumors and genetic disorders .

Betamethasone acetate is a glucocorticoid with prenatal application for preventing respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in premature infants. Betamethasone acetate exhibits dose-dependent effects on somatic and brain development in offspring when administered prenatally to pregnant rats. Betamethasone acetate can be used for the study of antenatal intervention .

Potassium Channel

Research Areas:

Neurological Disease

Phrixotoxin 2 is a Kv4 family potassium channel inhibitor, with Ki values in rats of 120 nM for Kv4.2, 110 nM for Kv4.3, and 230 nM for Kv4.1. Phrixotoxin 2 mediates voltage-dependent inhibition of Kv4.2 and Kv4.3 currents, and voltage-independent inhibition of Kv4.1 currents. Phrixotoxin 2 fails to inhibit A-type K + currents in visceral dorsal root ganglion neurons. Phrixotoxin 2 induces contraction of non-pregnant uterine smooth muscle and triggers orofacial cold hyperalgesia in rats. Phrixotoxin 2 can distinguish the contribution of Kv4 subunits to A-type K + currents in different subsets of sensory neurons. Phrixotoxin 2 can be used in research related to chronic pain and trigeminal neuropathic pain .

Oxytocin Receptor

Research Areas:

Endocrinology

SSR126768A free base is an orally active antagonist for oxytocin receptor, with Ki of 0.44 nM. SSR126768A free base is a tocolytic agent, that antagonizes the Oxytocin (HY-17571)-induced intracellular Ca 2+ increase and prostaglandin release in human uterine smooth muscle cells, inhibits thus the Oxytocin (HY-17571)-induced uterine contraction and delays parturition in pregnant rats in labor .

Angiotensin Receptor

Research Areas:

Cardiovascular Disease

A-779 TFA is a selective angiotensin-(1-7) (Ang-(1-7)) antagonist. A-779 TFA blocks Arachidonic acid release, bradykinin potentiation effects and hypotensive action. A-779 TFA exerts diuretic effects in non-pregnant rats, antidiuretic effects in late-pregnant rats, and also inhibits feed intake and water consumption in late-pregnant rats. A-779 TFA attenuates the regulatory effects of prostacyclin, nitric oxide and thromboxane A2 associated with angiotensin-(1-7). A-779 TFA can be used in studies related to hypertension .

Pinafide is an orally active anticancer agent. Pinafide binds to double-stranded DNA via intercalation, stabilizes the DNA-topoisomerase II complex, induces photo-induced DNA damage and ROS production, causes lysosomal and mitochondrial dysfunction, impairs DNA and RNA synthesis, and blocks cell growth. Pinafide binds to human serum albumin in vitro, undergoes biotransformation via reduction and acetylation in rats, and can cross the placental barrier of pregnant rats. Pinafide can be used in cancer-related research such as hepatocellular carcinoma .

Dihydromyrcenol is an orally active flavor ingredient and Antifungal agent. Dihydromyrcenol acts as a toxicant. Dihydromyrcenol induces phototoxicity-related growth inhibition in Bakers' Yeast. In pregnant rats, Dihydromyrcenol causes threshold maternal toxicity by reducing feed consumption and body weight gain, and also induces threshold developmental toxicity by decreasing fetal body weight, inhibiting ossification of metatarsal bones in the hind paws, increasing the number of extra thoracic vertebrae ribs, and altering vertebral counts .
