Description

Stacofylline (S 9977 free base; S 9977-2 free base) a xanthine derivative, is a potent AChE inhibitor with an IC50 of 5-50 nM. Stacofylline shows anti-amnesic and promnesic activities[1].

In Vitro

Stacofylline (S 9977-2) potentiates cholinergic transmission by significantly increasing the time constant of decay (Tc) of inhibitory postsynaptic currents (IPSCs)[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

In Scopolamine, Diazepam, and electroconvulsive shock (ECS) mouse models, Stacofylline (S 9977) at low doses (0.0312-0.5 mg/kg; p.o.) clearly attenuates the memory deficits induced by the three amnesic treatments after acute treatment[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
