Description

trans-Chlorogenic acid (trans-3-O-Caffeoylquinic acid) is a caffeoyl ester derivative of quinic acid, as well as an oviposition stimulant. trans-Chlorogenic acid can be found in the leaves of carrot (Daucus carota) and wild parsnip (Pastinaca sativa)[1][2].

In Vivo

Trans-chlorogenic acid (4.8-480 μg; contact feeding; single administration) acts as a synergistic oviposition stimulant for female Papilio protenor[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Papilio polyxenes (female adults)[2]
Dosage: 4.8 μg; 48 μg; 480 μg
Administration: topical application to filter paper strips
Result: Significantly increased the oviposition response rate of female Papilio polyxenes in a dose‑dependent manner.
Showed strong synergistic activity with tyramine and neutral plant fractions to trigger full oviposition behavior, while it had weak to moderate activity alone.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
