CL-283796
CL-283796 is a potent and orally active acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) inhibitor. CL-283796 reduces low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol without affecting cholesterol absorption in African green monkeys. CL-283796 can be used for hypercholesterolemia research.

-
Animal Model:Adult African green monkeys fed an atherogenic diet for approximately 6 weeks[1]
-
Dosage:10 and 30 mg/kg
-
Administration:p.o., 10 mg/kg daily for 5 weeks and 30 mg/kg daily for the next 5 weeks
-
Result:Resulted in a 24.1% reduction in total plasma cholesterol after 30 days (10 mg/kg dose).
Resulted in significant reductions in LDL cholesterol but non-significant effects on VLDL cholesterol values.
Showed no significant effects on plasma triglyceride values, HDL cholesterol, and apolipoproteins A-I, B and E levels.
Decreased the total plasma cholesterol (TPC)/HDL cholesterol ratios by 40% after 10 weeks.
Showed no significant effect on cholesterol absorption.
Did not affect body weights.
