    Description

α-CGRP (human) (Calcitonin gene-related peptide) is a regulatory neuropeptide of 37 amino acids. α-CGRP (human) is widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous system. α-CGRP (human) is a potent vasodilator and has inotropic and chronotropic effects[1][2][3].

    In Vitro

α-CGRP (human) (3×10-11-3×10-9 moles; 45 s) can decrease the coronary perfusion pressure and increase the heart rate of isolated rat hearts, but has no significant effect on the contractility of isolated rat hearts[1].
α-CGRP (human) (3×10-11-3×10-9 moles; 45 s) can decrease the coronary perfusion pressure of isolated rabbit hearts, but has no significant effect on the heart rate and contractility of isolated rabbit hearts[1].

    In Vivo

α-CGRP (human) (Intravenous infusion; 0.03 nmol/kg/min; 60 min) can cause significant hypotension and tachycardia accompanied by falls in renal and mesenteric flows, but an increase in hindquarters flow, and a transient renal, sustained hindquarters vasodilatation and a mesenteric vasoconstriction in conscious rats[2].

    Help & FAQs
    • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
