5-Bromo-N,N-dimethyltryptamine
5-Bromo-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-Bromo-N,N-DMT) is a 5-HT receptor ligand with Ki values of 2.6 nM and 8.3 nM for 5-HT1D and 5-HT7, respectively. 5-Bromo-N,N-dimethyltryptamine induces sedative/hypolocomotor effects. 5-Bromo-N,N-dimethyltryptamine can be used for research on depression.

In Vitro
5-Bromo-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (2d) binds to cloned serotonin receptor subtypes with nanomolar affinity, most potently at 5-HT1D (Ki 2.6 nM) and 5-HT7 (Ki 8.3 nM)[1].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
In Vivo
5-Bromo-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (1-20 mg/kg; i.p.; single administration) lacks antidepressant-like activity in the mouse forced swim test and produces a sedative-like reduction in locomotor activity[2].

-
Animal Model:Swiss Webster (adult male, 8 weeks old, 24-31 g)[1]
-
Dosage:10 mg/kg, 20 mg/kg, and 40 mg/kg
-
Administration:i.p.; single injection
-
Result:In the forced swim test, compound 2d immobility time was 103 sec at 10 mg/kg, 110.8 sec at 20 mg/kg, and 52.4 sec at 40 mg/kg.
In the locomotor activity test, compound 2d total locomotor activity was 1141 at 10 mg/kg, 521 at 20 mg/kg, and 73 at 40 mg/kg.
Did not show antidepressant-like action in the initial 20 mg/kg evaluation, and at 40 mg/kg it reduced immobility in the forced swim test while also decreasing locomotor activity.
-
Animal Model:Swiss Webster (male; Harlan, Indianapolis, IN; 25-30 g)[2]
-
Dosage:1-20 mg/kg
-
Administration:i.p.; single administration
-
Result:Did not exhibit antidepressant-like activity in the forced swim test.
It caused a significant reduction of locomotor activity indicative of a potential sedative action.
