Antileishmanial agent-42
Antileishmanial agent-42 is an antileishmanial agent. Antileishmanial agent-42 has favorable interactions with key active site residues (e.g., Ser63, Asn66/295/299) of adenosine kinase. Antileishmanial agent-42 exerts activity against promastigote and amastigote forms of L. amazonensis, L. braziliensis, L. infantum, and L. donovani.

Biological Activity
Antileishmanial agent-42 (Compound 5a) potently inhibits Leishmania amazonensis, L. braziliensis, L. infantum, and L. donovani promastigotes with IC50 values of 0.95, 0.53, 0.8, and 0.82 μM, and exhibits low cytotoxicity to RAW 264.7 macrophages with a CC50 of 110.57 μM, resulting in high selectivity indices from 116.4 to 208.6[1].
Antileishmanial agent-42 (0.78-50 μM; 72 h) potently inhibits intracellular amastigotes of Leishmania amazonensis, L. braziliensis, L. infantum, and L. donovani in RAW 264.7 macrophages with IC50 values of 0.65, 0.48, .52 and 0.61 μM[1].
