Isonicotinamide promotes the activity of the NAD⁺-dependent deacetylase Sir2 in yeast and affects NAD⁺ homeostasis and nucleotide salvage synthesis pathways. Isonicotinamide can also serve as an intermediate for the synthesis of active drugs.
