Simmondsin 2'-ferulate is an orally active Antifungal agent and Insecticide. Simmondsin 2'-ferulate can be isolated from Simmondsia chinensis. Simmondsin 2'-ferulate reduces serum LDH and ALP enzyme activities. Simmondsin 2'-ferulate reduces serum T₃, testosterone, and FSH concentrations. Simmondsin 2'-ferulate exhibits insecticidal and antifeedant activities against Spodoptera littoralis larvae. Simmondsin 2'-ferulate exhibits antifungal and molluscicidal activities against plant pathogenic fungi and Eobania vermiculata.

Simmondsin 2'-ferulate (10-1000 μg/mL; 25°C in the dark until control growth covered plates) exhibits moderate antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani, Pythium debaryanum, Botrytis fabae, and Fusarium oxysporum, with EC₅₀ values of 146.1, 153.9, 145.9, and 293.2 mg/l, respectively^[3].

Simmondsin 2'-ferulate (topical; 1 μL per larva; 24 h) exhibits pronounced insecticidal activity against third instar S. littoralis larvae with an LD₅₀ of 2.58 μg/larva by topical application^[3].
Simmondsin 2'-ferulate (10-1000 μg/mL; leaf disc immersion; 10 s; 24 h) shows strong concentration-dependent antifeedant activity against third instar S. littoralis larvae, reaching 90.0% antifeeding index at 1000 μg/mL^[3].

Others

Single oral doses of simmondsin 2'-ferulate (250-500 mg/kg; p.o.; single dose) cause no mortality or toxicity signs in rats but significantly decrease ALP, LDH, and CPK activities and T₃, FSH, and testosterone concentrations, with the effects being more pronounced at 500 mg/kg^[1].

Lowered FSH concentration at 250 mg/kg (4.00 mU/mL) and 500 mg/kg (3.87 mU/mL) compared to control (4.24 mU/mL).
Decreased testosterone concentration at 250 mg/kg (3.65 ng/mL) and 500 mg/kg (3.61 ng/mL) compared to control (3.72 ng/mL).
