Itaconoyl-CoA
Itaconoyl-CoA (Itaconoyl coenzyme A) is a coenzyme A derivative. Itaconoyl-CoA exhibits antibacterial and antiviral defense activities as well as the ability to regulate host immune metabolism. Itaconoyl-CoA acts as a multi-target modulator with a dual mechanism: in pathogens, it competitively inhibits isocitrate lyase (ICL) to block the glyoxylate shunt and inactivates MCM through itaconylation to disrupt branched-chain amino acid metabolism; in host cells, it activates the Nrf2 pathway to alleviate oxidative stress while inhibiting GSDMD oligomerization to block pyroptosis (pyroptosis). Itaconoyl-CoA can be used in research on infections, septicemia, and neurodegenerative diseases.
