Methacryloyl-CoA
Methacryloyl-CoA (Methacrylyl-coenzyme A) is a thiol-reactive toxic intermediate produced by mitochondrial valine catabolism that inhibits thiol-containing mitochondrial enzymes through reaction with thiols. Methacryloyl-CoA is metabolically detoxified by MC-CoA hydratase and HIB-CoA hydrolase, and reduced activity of its metabolic enzymes weakens detoxification capacity. Methacryloyl-CoA can be used in research on cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Activité biologique
Description
In Vitro
Methacryloyl-CoA (2 days) cannot support detectable GumG-mediated acylation of D-Man by WT GumG or the tested GumG variants[1].
Methacryloyl-CoA (3 days) does not produce detectable methacrylated xanthan gum in Xcc ΔgumL (pStlig) cultures[1].
Methacryloyl-CoA shows no significant hydratase activity with recombinant MBP-tagged E. coli PaaZ in spectrophotometric enoyl-CoA assays[2].
