Biological Activity
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) is a mitochondrial enzyme whose primary function is to catalyze the oxidation of aldehydes into their corresponding carboxylic acids. In cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, activation of ALDH2 reduces aldehyde accumulation and oxidative stress damage.
