Description

8(S)-HEPE is a monohydroxy fatty acid produced by lipoxygenase oxidation of EPA. It acts to promote hatching of barnacle eggs at 10 nM, although it is not clearly identified as the natural egg hatching factor[1][2].

In Vitro

8R-HEPE induces the expression of Abca1 and Abcg1 via activation of liver X receptor, whereas 8S-HEPE elicits no such activity[2]..

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
