BAY-163 is a tertiary urea derivative and inactive negative control probe for BAY-439 (HY-178123). BAY-163 does not inhibit phospholipase A2 group V (PLA2-G5) activity in immune cells. BAY-163 can be used for research on endometriosis.

BAY-163 does not bind to human phospholipase A2 group V (hPLA2-G5) at concentrations up to 10 μM[1].
BAY-163 shows no inhibitory activity against rat phospholipase A2 group V (rPLA2-G5) at concentrations up to 20 μM[1].
BAY-163 shows no inhibitory activity against human cytosolic phospholipase A2 group IVA (hPLA2-G4A) or human phospholipase A2 group VII (hPLA2-G7) at concentrations up to 20 μM[1].
BAY-163 shows no inhibitory activity against human secretory phospholipase A2 group IIA (hPLA2-G2A) at concentrations up to 20 μM, and weak inhibitory activity against human secretory phospholipase A2 group X (hPLA2-G10) with an IC50 of 14.3 μM[1].
BAY-163 shows no inhibitory activity against phospholipase A2 group V (PLA2-G5) in THP-1 cells[1].
