Cytochrome C (bovine heart)
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Cytochrome C (bovine heart) is composed of 104 amino acids and is a nuclear-encoded mitochondrial protein. Cytochrome C (bovine heart) acts as an effective ROS scavenger, but when combined with the cofactor p66Shc, it promotes the generation of ROS to initiate apoptosis. Cytochrome C (bovine heart) can act as a single electron carrier.

Biological Activity
When cytochrome C (bovine heart) is combined with non-specific phosphatase inhibitors (fluorides and vanadates), phosphorylation occurs at the Tyr97 site, resulting in a decrease in its affinity for cytochrome c-oxidase (CcO), thereby partially inhibiting the electron transfer efficiency of the mitochondrial respiratory chain[1].
Cytochrome C (bovine heart) is released from the intermembrane space of the mitochondria into the cytoplasm when the cell receives an apoptotic signal. In the cytoplasm, it no longer performs its normal respiratory function but instead acts as a crucial apoptotic signaling molecule, binding to apoptotic protease activating factor-1 (APAF-1), initiating the caspase cascade reaction, and ultimately leading to cell apoptosis[2].
