4-Ethylcatechol causes DNA damage in the presence of Cu(II). 4-Ethylcatechol also induces the formation of 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2'-deoxyguanosine in calf thymus DNA in the presence of Cu(II). Cu(I) and H2O2 produced via oxidation of 4-Ethylcatechol are involved in oxidative DNA damage[1].
