In Vitro

Ro 48-8587 (1-2 h) potently inhibits [3H]AMPA, [3H]kainate and [3H]MK-801 binding to rat whole brain membranes with Ki values of 0.008, 1.3 and 8 μM[1].
Ro 48-8587 (1-10 μM) potently, competitively inhibits S-AMPA-induced depolarizations in rat brain cortical wedges with an IC50 of 0.089 μM[1].
Ro 48-8587 inhibits NMDA-induced depolarizations in rat brain cortical wedges with an IC50 of 4.4 μM[1].
Ro 48-8587 (0.5-50 nM; 1 h) binds to a single population of high-affinity sites on rat whole brain membranes with a KD of 3 ± 1 nM[1].

In Vivo

Ro 48-8587 is moderately neuroprotective in a rat focal ischaemia model, reducing cortical infarct volume by 22%[1].
Ro 48-8587 7 prevents electroshock-induced convulsions or sound-induced seizures in MORO or DBA-2 mice[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
