Sodium dichloroacetate is an orally active pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase (PDK) inhibitor. Sodium dichloroacetate also stimulates pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) activity and works as a Na +-K +-2Cl − cotransporter (NKCC) inhibitor.
