Famotine hydrochloride inhibits viral growth and cytopathic effects in vitro, directly inactivates viruses, and interferes with intracellular viral replication steps. Famotine hydrochloride can be used in studies related to viral infections.

SARS-CoV-2-IN-77 (compound 11e) is a cathepsin L and cathepsin S inhibitor with K_i values of 111 nM and 103 nM, respectively. SARS-CoV-2-IN-77 inhibits SARS-CoV-2 with an EC₅₀ value of 38.4 nM in Calu-3 cells without showing cytotoxicity.

KRH-3955 is a CXCR4 antagonist with good bioavailability and potent anti-HIV-1 activity. Deoxyenterocin is a bacterial metabolite originally isolated from Streptomyces that has diverse biological activities, including antibiotic, antiviral, and antioxidant properties. It inhibits the growth of S. lutea, S. aureus, K. pneumoniae, and V. percolans in vitro when used at a concentration of 500 μg/mL. Deoxyenterocin (50 μg/mL) inhibits the cytopathic effect of influenza A H1N1 virus by 60.6% in vitro. It also prevents hydrogen peroxide-induced decreases in glutathione (GSH) levels and in the mitochondrial membrane potential in mouse primary cortical neuronal cultures when used at a concentration of 1 μM.
