Stigmastanol is a 6-amino derivative. Stigmastanol can be isolated from Hypericum riparium. Stigmastanol increases the secretion of IL-2 and IL-10. Stigmastanol reduces the maximum mitochondrial respiration of cells. Stigmastanol has beneficial effects on the weakened immune function of asthma.

Sitostanol (1.2 μM; 24 h) does not alter mitochondrial respiration in human brown adipocytes or human myotubes, but reduces maximal mitochondrial respiration in human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells cultured in low-glucose medium[3].
Sitostanol (1.2 μM; 48 h for Treg population) increases the secretion of Th1-type cytokines IFN-γ and IL-2, promotes the number of regulatory T cells (Treg) and IL-10 secretion, reduces the proportion of NK cells, and tends to decrease NKT cell activity in phytohaemagglutinin (PHA)-stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from asthma patients[4].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
