Description

Antitrypanosomal agent 33 is a potent antitrypanosomal agent with activity against Trypanosoma cruzi intracellular amastigotes, Trypanosoma brucei brucei, and Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense. Antitrypanosomal agent 33 can be used for the research of trypanosomiasis, chagas disease[1].

In Vitro

Antitrypanosomal agent 33 (compound 1) potently inhibits T. cruzi, T. b. brucei, and T. b. rhodesiense with IC50 values of 0.23, 0.59, and 0.81 μM, respectively[1].
Antitrypanosomal agent 33 shows low cytotoxicity in MRC-5 cells, with a CC50>61 μM[1].
Antitrypanosomal agent 33 (100 μM) is a substrate for Trypanosoma cruzi type I nitroreductase, with an observed rate constant of 0.11/s[1].
Antitrypanosomal agent 33 has favorable human metabolic stability (5.6 mL/min/g liver) and good MDCK membrane permeability (205 nm/sec) but limited aqueous solubility (13 μM)[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
