SB87-Cl
SB87-Cl is a halogenated benzophenone antibiotic that can be isolated from fungi of the genus Pestalotiopsis. SB87-Cl exhibits strong antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, but is accompanied by cytotoxicity to mammalian cells. SB87-Cl can be used in studies of Staphylococcus aureus infection, methicillin (Methicillin (HY-121544))-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection, and vancomycin (Vancomycin (HY-B0671))-susceptible Enterococcus faecium (VSE) infection.

Biological Activity
SB87-Cl (0.31-10 μg/mL; 6-8 h) exhibits antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (MIC = 2.5 μg/mL), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MIC = 2.5 μg/mL), and vancomycin-sensitive Enterococcus faecium (MIC = 1.25 μg/mL), but shows no inhibitory effect on vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium even at concentrations up to 10 μg/mL[1].
SB87-Cl (0.016-50 μM) exhibits cytotoxicity against A549, HeLa, HepG2, MCF-7 and Vero cells, with IC50 values of 2.9, 2.1, 3.9, 4.6 and 2.4 μM, respectively[1].
