Lathosterol is a plant sterol and cholesterol-like molecule. Lathosterol increases antioxidant enzymes (such as SOD, CAT, and GSH) and decreases LDH. Lathosterol has a hepatoprotective effect on mice with acetaminophen (HY-66005)-induced liver injury[1].

Animal Model:Swiss albino mice (either sex, 22-30 g in weight, 8-12 weeks old) + Acetaminophen (HY-66005)-induced hepatotoxicity model[2]

Dosage:25 μg/kg BW, 50 μg/kg BW (dissolved in DMSO, final concentration adjusted to 0.1% DMSO solution with distilled water)

Administration:Intraperitoneal injection (i.p.), 7 days

Result:Reduced the levels of ALT, AST, ALP, LDH and direct bilirubin in serum.
Increased the enzyme concentrations of SOD, CAT and GSH in liver homogenate.
Improved the histological changes of the liver (only minor bleeding was observed at 50 μg/kg BW).

Add each solvent one by one: 10% EtOH 40% PEG300 5% Tween-80 45% Saline
Solubility: ≥ 2 mg/mL (5.17 mM); Clear solution
This protocol yields a clear solution of ≥ 2 mg/mL (saturation unknown).
Taking 1 mL working solution as an example, add 100 μL EtOH stock solution (20.0 mg/mL) to 400 μL PEG300, and mix evenly; then add 50 μL Tween-80 and mix evenly; then add 450 μL Saline to adjust the volume to 1 mL.
Preparation of Saline: Dissolve 0.9 g sodium chloride in ddH₂O and dilute to 100 mL to obtain a clear Saline solution.
Add each solvent one by one: 10% EtOH 90% Corn Oil
Solubility: ≥ 2 mg/mL (5.17 mM); Clear solution
This protocol yields a clear solution of ≥ 2 mg/mL (saturation unknown). If the continuous dosing period exceeds half a month, please choose this protocol carefully.
Taking 1 mL working solution as an example, add 100 μL EtOH stock solution (20.0 mg/mL) to 900 μL Corn oil, and mix evenly.
