Biological Activity
Desmethylicaritin is a bioactive metabolite of Epimedium flavonoids in serum[1].
Desmethylicaritin (0.1, 1, and 10 μM; 48 h) suppresses the adipogenesis and inhibited clonal expansion during adipogenesis in 3T3-L1 cells in a dose-dependent manner[1].
Desmethylicaritin (10 μM; 48 h) does not affect CCAAT/enhancer binding protein δ and β mRNA expression, but decreases the mRNA expression of CCAAT/enhancer binding protein α, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ, adipocyte lipid-binding protein and lipoprotein lipase[1].
Desmethylicaritin (10 μM; 2, 4, 6, and 10 d) increases the protein expression of β-catenin both in the cytoplasm and nuclei and immunofluorescence results confirmed that desmethylicaritin increased nuclear translocation of β-catenin[1].
