NSC-80141 potently inhibits the basal ATPase activity and microtubule-stimulated ATPase activity of human kinesin-5 (HsEg5) and *Plasmodium vivax* kinesin-5 (PvEg5) (the IC50 value for basal HsEg5 activity is 9.4 μM, and that for basal PvEg5 activity is 27.3 μM; the IC50 value for microtubule-stimulated HsEg5 is 99 nM, and that for microtubule-stimulated PvEg5 is 769 nM)[1].
