3-Methoxyphenylethylamine is a substrate of cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) and can be oxidized by CYP2D6. 3-Methoxyphenylethylamine can be used as a model substrate in drug metabolism studies to study the catalytic mechanism and substrate selectivity of CYP2D6[2].
The oxidation product of 3-Methoxyphenylethylamine can be used as a precursor of norepinephrine and plays a role in the nervous system[2].
