5α-Dihydrocortisol  (Synonyms: 5α-DHF)

5α-Dihydrocortisol (5α-DHF), a metabolite of Hydrocortisone (Cortisol) (HY-N0583), is a steroid hormone. 5α-Dihydrocortisol can enhance the mineralocorticoid activity of aldosterone^[1][2].

In the adrenalectomized rat kidney, in vitro, 5α-Dihydrocortisol (5α-DHF) has 20% the affinity of Dexamethasone (HY-14648) for classical (type II) glucocorticoid receptors, 10% the affinity of Corticosterone (HY-B1618) for (type III) corticosteroid-binding globulin-like glucocorticoid receptors, and 3% the affinity of Aldosterone (HY-113313) for mineralocorticoid receptors (type I). 5α-Dihydrocortisol has <0.1% the affinity of Dihydrotestosterone in mouse kidney receptors and <0.1% the affinity of both Estradiol (HY-B0141) and Progesterone (HY-N0437) for their receptors in rat uterus^[1].
