CB-618 has weak antibacterial activity as a single agent, but it significantly enhances the antibacterial activity of Meropenem (HY-13678) against enzyme-producing Enterobacteriaceae. CB-618 can be used in research on drug-resistant bacteria.

NDM-1 inhibitor-5 (compound 57) is a potent NDM-1 inhibitor, with a K_i of 2.5 μM. NDM-1 inhibitor-5 also shows antibacterial synergistic activity with meropenem (HY-13678).
