Description

BDM91531 is a AcrB inhibitor with an EC50 of 0.16 μM against E. coli. BDM91531 acts as an antibiotic potentiator to restore the sensitivity of wild-type Escherichia coli to multiple AcrB substrate antibiotics. BDM91531 exhibits antibacterial activity. BDM91531 can be used in the research of bacterial infections[1].

In Vitro

BDM91531 (Compound 6) (4.5 h) potently enhances the activity of AcrB substrate antibiotics in wild-type E. coli BW25113 by inhibiting the AcrAB-TolC efflux pump, with an EC90 of 0.24 μM against pyridomycin[1].
BDM91531 (20 min) binds tightly to purified wild-type E. coli AcrB, induces its thermal stability, with a half-effective concentration of approximately 156 nM[1].
BDM91531 (0-5 μM; 16 h) induces concentration-dependent growth inhibition in E. coli BW25113ΔacrB complementarily expressing wild-type AcrB in the presence of Erythromycin (HY-B0220), and its activity depends on the negatively charged residues (E947, D951) at the cytoplasmic rim of AcrB[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
