G6PD-IN-2 is a Plasmodium falciparum glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) inhibitor with an IC50 value of 0.2 μM. G6PD-IN-2 exerts weak inhibitory activity on Plasmodium falciparum glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase-6-phosphogluconolactonase (PfGluPho) with an IC50 value of 22.0 μM. G6PD-IN-2 inhibits growth of Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 strain and exhibits low cytotoxicity in hepatocytes. G6PD-IN-2 can be used for the research of malaria.

Description

G6PD-IN-2 can be used for the research of malaria[1].

In Vitro

G6PD-IN-2 (Compound CB83) shows time-dependent inhibition of recombinant human G6PD with an IC50 of 0.2 μM after 1 h preincubation/1 h postincubation, but only weak, time-independent inhibition of recombinant Plasmodium falciparum PfGluPho, with an IC50 of 22.0 μM under the same preincubation/postincubation conditions[1].
G6PD-IN-2 (72 h) inhibits in vitro growth of Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 parasites with an IC50 of 5.3 μM[1].
G6PD-IN-2 (0.01-50 μM; 24 h) exhibits low cytotoxicity against Fa2N-4 human immortalized hepatocytes, with an LC50 of 81.3 μM[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
