IMDNQ1 is a Trypanosoma cruzi inhibitor derived from 1,4-naphthoquinone substituted with cyclic imide. IMDNQ1 effectively inhibits the proliferation of Trypanosoma cruzi epimastigotes, while also reducing the viability of mouse fibroblasts. The selectivity index between the antiproliferative activity and cytotoxicity of IMDNQ1 is 60.25, indicating a certain level of safety. IMDNQ1 can be widely used in studies related to Chagas disease.

Description

IMDNQ1 is a Trypanosoma cruzi inhibitor derived from 1,4-naphthoquinone substituted with cyclic imide. IMDNQ1 effectively inhibits the proliferation of Trypanosoma cruzi epimastigotes, while also reducing the viability of mouse fibroblasts. The selectivity index between the antiproliferative activity and cytotoxicity of IMDNQ1 is 60.25, indicating a certain level of safety. IMDNQ1 can be widely used in studies related to Chagas disease[1][2].

In Vitro

IMDNQ1 (0.39-100 μM; 48 h) exhibits low cytotoxicity to Balb/C 3T3 mouse fibroblasts with an IC50 of 165.9 μM, resulting in a selectivity index of 60.25 that is significantly higher than Nifurtimox (HY-W040073)[1].
IMDNQ1 (0.39-100 µM; 48 h) potently inhibits the proliferation of Trypanosoma cruzi epimastigotes (Tulahuen CL98 strain) with an IC50 of 2.77 µM, showing significantly greater activity than Nifurtimox (HY-W040073)[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Cell Cytotoxicity Assay[2]

Cell Line: Balb/C 3T3 mouse fibroblasts (clone A31)
Concentration: 0.39-100 µM
Incubation Time: 48 h
Result: Reduced the viability of Balb/C 3T3 mouse fibroblasts with an IC50 of 165.9 µM.
Exhibited significantly less cytotoxicity than nifurtimox (IC50=114.0 µM).
Achieved a selectivity index of 60.25, which is significantly higher than the selectivity index of nifurtimox.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
